PARTY TIME! Here
are some festive ideas and creative themes for your next get-together
Bridal shower or "hen party" - Play
Death by Chocolate, a fun
murder-mystery game for 8 - 16 women (and men can play, too)! Decorate for
the party with rich chocolate brown table accents or linens, and burn a
chocolate-scented candle. Food served, of course, will be ... chocolate
... and other sweet treats.
Food IS the entertainment - pull up
your coziest dining chairs (maybe even drag up a love seat or settee to the
table) and make a social evening centered around the fondue pot. A
high quality pot makes it possible to heat cheese, chocolate, or even cook meats
with a variety of sauces. Fondue is not "fast food" and will give your
guests time to talk and linger over the meal. Set the table with fabulous

plates and a variety of bowls for dips or items to be dipped. You can also
use fun and festive vintage dishes. This is your chance to mix and match
to make each setting different! ** Remember to serve a good Italian
Prosecco wine or other sparkling white wine with a cheese fondue. Your
tummy will be happy, and the taste will go well with whatever you are cooking.

Home is where the heart is
- If you are having an indoor (winter time) family reunion, make
copies of favorite family photos (and ask guests to contribute some) and place
under an inexpensive plexiglass topper cut to fit your table(s). Vintage
clothing or hats pulled out of family members' closets will also spark
conversation and hilarious family stories! Hang the clothing articles
right on the walls with push pins or decorative tacks, or embellish the back
side of each dining chair with a special item (don't dress the front of the
chair - spills are not fun!). Keep costs low by asking family members to
bring a favorite dish, along with some copies of the recipe to share. This
is your chance to bring out Grandma's china, too, and heirloom tableware. |
