How do
Effusion Lamps Work?
The catalytic lamp process
was discovered in the late 1800s in Europe. The first fragrance
lamps were used in hospitals and sanitariums to destroy odors,
disinfect and purify the air.
Fragrance lamps work by burning an alcohol-based fragrance oil using a
catalytic wick stone. The stone is lit for a few minutes to warm it,
then the flame is blown out. The catalytic action in the wick stone
cleans the air and destroys odors while wafting fragrance into the
room. Since there is an open flame only for a few minutes per
session, catalytic lamps are safer than candles which burn
constantly when being used.
